Privacy Policy

Effective 3 July 2026 · applies to the GrowChronicle Android app and growchronicle.com

The short version: GrowChronicle keeps your grow data on your device. The app has no accounts, no analytics, and no ads, and it does not send your data to us or anyone else.

Who we are

GrowChronicle is developed by M.T. Kornaus, based in the United Kingdom. Contact: hello@growchronicle.com.

Data in the app

Everything you record in GrowChronicle — grows, plants, feed entries, measurements, schedules, photos, inventory and settings — is stored locally on your device. We do not collect, receive, transmit, sell or share any of it. There is no sign-up and no user account.

Backups are created only when you choose to export one. A backup is a file you own: you decide where it goes (your files, your cloud drive, an email). Restoring a backup reads that file locally.

Photos and the label scanner

Photos you attach are stored on your device. The label scanner reads text from photos entirely on your device using Google’s ML Kit; label images are not uploaded anywhere by the app. If the on-device reader is unavailable, the app may download an open-source text-reading library from a public CDN (jsDelivr) to run locally — the library is downloaded to your device; your image still isn’t sent anywhere.

Permissions

The app requests network access solely for the fallback described above. It does not request location, contacts or background access. Camera images come through the standard system photo picker, which you control.

The website

growchronicle.com is a static site with no tracking cookies or analytics. If you join the wait-list, the email address you submit is stored by our form provider and used only to tell you about GrowChronicle’s launch and major updates. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can ask us to delete your address at any time.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have rights of access, correction, deletion and portability. For app data these are in your hands already — the data lives on your device and can be exported or deleted in Settings. For wait-list emails, contact us and we will act within one month.

Children

GrowChronicle is a general-audience gardening tool and does not knowingly collect any personal data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If a future version of the app adds optional online features (such as cloud backup), this policy will be updated first, the change will be dated, and nothing will sync without you signing up and opting in.
